In my artistic practice, I have always aimed to depict fragments of time; a moment in my day or week that stood out to me. I moved into abstract work, thinking about color, shape, line, and movement within my pieces. I wanted to abstract these moments in my life, and rearrange my thoughts and feelings about them on the canvas. In a recent shift back to representational painting, I have brought abstraction into life. I have taken what I learned by experimenting freely with these large scale abstract works, and honed in on pattern, texture, and abstraction of space - warping scale and perspective. Pulling inspiration from around me, creating patterns, and laying down thick acrylic paint is what defines my current practice.
